Opportunity Profile:
Supervises the maintenance and repair of manufacturing, packaging and plant facilites equipment and systems. Participate in the activities required to improve equipment performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Comply with GMP’s, Safety and Environmental procedures and regulations requirements of regulatory agencies as well as ensure compliance with general policies and procedures.
2. Provide supervision to mechanics and electricians.
3. Provide tools and materials required by the mechanics to perform their job functions.
4. Organize daily work load according to priorities and needs of the plant operations. Coordinate the work to be performed with other supervisors.
5. Provide technical support to the mechanics on the troubleshooting, diagnostic, repair and modification of equipment.
6. Provide and/or coordinate regulatory, technical and cross functional trainings to the mechanics and electricians. Ensure compliance with regulatory trainings.
7. Evaluate, monitor and improve production equipment performance, downtime, set-up time, changeover time and yield.
8. Monitor utility equipment performance and provide supervision to conform to the environmental conditions.
9. Supervise equipment modifications and upgrades. Responsible for change control documentation and approval.
10. Report modifications and upgrades to ensure changes are properly documented in the Controlled Drawings system.
11. Provide the engineering and operations managers with ideas for improvement.
12. Supervise the execution of the preventive maintenance program. Identify and report changes to the existing maintenance procedures.
13. Supervise the execution of the Calibration program. Identify and report changes to the existing calibration procedures.
14. Supervise and support the mechanics and electricians on the creation, documentation, execution and completion of the Maintenance Work Orders.
15. Comply with the Document Control System. Identify report and implement changes required to the Engineering controlled documents.
16. Comply and provide supervision to ensure equipment is properly tagged and registered in the Engineering, Production and Financial systems.
17. Complete and document Investigations Reports as required.
18. Comply and report corrective actions taken in response to regulatory audits and investigation reports.
19. Assist the managers and/or implement new or revised policies and procedures.
20. Supervise the identification of spare parts lists. Must define minimum inventory levels and report them to the Engineering Managers.
21. Supervise Machine Shop overall organization and housekeeping. Responsible to provide the necessary tools and materials for the machine shop mechanics.
22. Monitor departmental expense. Provide alternatives, support and justify initiatives to reduce departmental expense.
23. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Must possess knowledge of GMP’s and SOP’s. Must have knowledge of packaging and manufacturing equipment, including but no limited to bottle and blister machines, tablets and capsules manufacturing equipment, and general utilities systems. Must be familiar with machine shop equipment.
Must possess knowledge of electromechanical and pneumatic equipment and systems, PLCs and industrial instrumentation and controls. Must possess strong analytical, interpersonal, supervisory, and problem solving skills. Must be able to read and write in English and Spanish. Must be proficient on the computer and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and Lotus Notes.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or specialized area is required. Bachelor in Science in Engineering or related field is required. Preferable, Electrical or Mechanical Degree. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
