Opportunity Profile:
Responsible for setups, repairs and maintenance of the packaging and support equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Follow the Standard Operating Procedures. Know and comply with procedures relevant to this Department. Monitor compliance of all procedures. Review and recommend changes to procedures that pertain to the Engineering and Maintenance Department.
2. Adjust manufacturing, packaging and plant equipment to maintain efficient operation. Carry out modifications and upgrades to equipment as directed.
3. Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary work environment. Follow lockout and tag out work practices, as well as monitor the compliance of lockout tag out procedures. Keep all equipment in good working order and practice safe lifting, carrying and use of tool techniques.
4. Must be able to accurately diagnose most technical problems, recommend solutions, and implement corrective actions without assistance and guide others as needed. Communicate issues and activities to Management and all appropriate personnel inside and outside of the Engineering and Maintenance Department.
5. Perform preventive maintenance work orders without assistance, and make practical suggestions for improving the program. Participate in the creation, documentation, execution and completion of the preventive maintenance work orders.
6. Complete changeovers and equipment set-ups without assistance. Perform and document major equipment adjustments, repairs, upgrades and rebuild projects.
7. Must be able to operate machine shop equipment. Responsible for an efficient operation of the machine shop equipment while maintaining a clean and safe working area.
8. Comply with change control documentation and approval.
9. Participate and comply with regulatory, technical and cross-functional trainings.
10. Provide technical support to Production and Engineering personnel.
11. Monitor and improve equipment performance, downtime, set-up time, changeover time and yield.
12. Comply with the Maintenance Work Order System. Participate in the creation, documentation, execution and completion of the maintenance work orders.
13. Ensure proper documentation of the work performed according to GMP guidelines.
14. Provide support to Manufacturing Investigations and the resulting corrective and preventive actions.
15. Provide support to regulatory audits and the resulting corrective and preventive actions.
16. Indentify and document equipment spare parts usage and requests.
17. Identify and recommend initiatives to reduce departmental expenses.
18. Maintain an active and visible presence in the Production areas at all times.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Must possess knowledge of GMP, SOP and OSHA requirements for manufacturing facilities. Must have knowledge of Manufacturing Equipment including but not limited to tablet presses, encapsulation machines and related equipment.
Must possess knowledge of Packaging Equipment including but not limited to tablet capsule filling, bottle capping, labeling machines, automated blister packaging (form, fill, seal), cartoning and related equipment. Must possess proficiency in operating machine shop equipment, including: lathe, milling machine, drill press, powered hand tools, electrical instruments and related equipment.
Must possess written and verbal communications skills in both, English and Spanish. Must possess mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Must be able to work with basic measuring equipment including tape measures and calipers. Must be able to work with peers and communicate basic and technical concepts.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of Technical Degree is required. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry or specialized area is required. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
